Well, hello again!
It was great to be at the Johannesburg boat show recently, and to meet so many old friends – and see all sorts of new faces there to check out the fascinations of the world of boating.
Also heartening to see that in ‘our economic situation’ there are still lots of folk who are thinking of spending money to get out on the water – and quite a few who ARE actually spending it. Remember, guys, this is all mostly in the mind…make like all is well, and, guess what – like Captain Kirk, the Master of that greatest ship of all, the Starship Enterprise, you WILL make it so!
That tantalizing first scent of spring is in the early morning air, the sun is waking up earlier and earlier – and ITS TIME TO GET OUT ONTO THE WATER!
Also, school holidays are coming up again soon. How about treating the jongspan to something really different – quality time out on the water with mom and dad?
Please go to www.houseboats.co.za to check out our Spring Specials. And remember that if you book now and pay now for a Lightleys Getaway in October and November, you get a 25% discount.
Here’s a story to put a smile on your face – it comes from, where else (?), the laidback South of the US of A:
I went fishing this morning but after a short time I ran out of worms. Then I saw a little crocodile with a frog in his mouth. Frogs are good bass bait.
Knowing the crocodile couldn’t bite me with the frog in his mouth I grabbed him right behind the head, took the frog, and put it in my bait bucket.
Now the delimma was how to release the crocodile without getting bit. So, I grabbed my bottle of Jack Daniels and poured a little whiskey it its mouth. His eyes rolled back, he went limp. I released him into the lake without incident and carried on fishing using the frog.
A little later, I feld a nudge on my foot. There was that same crocodile with two frogs in his mouth.Good, huh?HOT NEWS!! Our houseboat operation on the Missinger Dam in Mocambique is up and running, and what an amazing place that is. The dam is in the northern part of our exotic neighbouring state, in the Transfrontier National Park. Believe us, it’s a different world up there…. for more details, go to www.houseboats.co.za
See you next week!
