Although Swaziland is a mountainous country, Maguga dam is situated in a low felt region. It is for this reason that the weather is always pretty good and comfortable. Cold front will always be felt, but even the winter months are good. There are enormous mountains that line the banks of the dam and this offers the best wind protection in the world, however the water can get rough if the wind blows from the right direction, but our well placed mooring points will offer you calm waters.
In summer the weather can get really hot and humid and can be compared with the weather conditions of Nelspruit in South Africa. The heat is also the reason for some aggressive thunder storms. It is wise to keep your eye on the weather in summer and make sure that you are moored on to one of our overnight points before the storm hits. These storms are normally short lived and will disappear as quickly they came.
